Edna Ruth Brooks, 83, of 17 Maple Avenue, Candler, died Monday, January 18, 1999, in the Hospice Solace Center.

Mrs. Brooks was born in Roaring River, NC, and was a daughter of the late Will and Alice D. Byrd. She was married to the late Reverend Edward B. 'Eddie' Brooks, and was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church.

She is survived by three daughters, Alice Weatherman, Jo Ann B. Pearson, and Sylvia Warren; a son, Charles Eugene Brooks; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Thursday at Groce Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jerry Young, Ed Barron, and Charles Shelton officiating. Burial will be at Pisgah View Memorial Park.

Her family will receive friends from 7 - 9 pm Wednesday at the funeral home and requests that memorials be made to Mountain Area Hospice, PO Box 16, Asheville, NC 28802.
