Evelyn P. Woody, 83, of 615 Brookshire Street, Asheville, died Friday, April 2, 1999, in an Asheville hospital.
Mrs. Woody was born in Columbia, SC, was a daughter of the late Earnest and Varetta Smith Patterson, and was married to the late Charles M. Woody, Sr. She was a resident of Buncombe County for most of her life and was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Lonnie R. Rush of Candler; a son, Charles M. Woody, Jr. of Bettendorf, Iowa; a sister, Thelma Maupin of Asheville; six grandchildren, Mark J. Coultrap, Matthew B. Woody, Brenda R. Bishop, Debra Chamberlain, Sharon Rice and Kathy Price; and twelve great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 4:00 pm Monday at Green Hills Cemetery with the Reverend Ricky Bishop officiating.
Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue and at other times will be at the home of her daughter, Joyce Rush, 488 Enka Lake Road,Candler.
