John Stanley Henry, 97, formerly of New Leicester Highway, Asheville, died on Thursday, March 25, 2010, at John F. Keever Hospice Solace Center.
A native of Knox Co., TN, Mr. Henry was preceded in death by his wife, Alma West Henry, who died in 2002.
Mr. Henry had retired as a foreman from Southern Railway in 1976, where he had worked for 48 years.
He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Werhan and husband Rev. C. Fred Werhan, of Candler; two granddaughters, Debby Bradley and Teri Lynn Sexton; three great-grandchildren, April Riedel Lewis, Autumn Riedel, and Hayden Sexton; and great-great-grandson, Skyler Rain Lewis.
Private services were held this past Saturday.
The family would like to acknowledge the caring ways of Day Stay at Hominy Baptist Church, the compassion of the people of Hospice and the Solace Center, and the gracious helpfulness of Groce Funeral Home.
