Skyland - Virginia Dills, 89, died peacefully at her home in Skyland, Monday, April 5, 2010.
She was the daughter of the late Virgil Curtis Burnette and Eunice Cole Burnette. She was preceded in death by both her husbands George Dee (Jack) Dills and William Jeff Rhoton, and her brothers, Benjamin Curtis and Carl Talmedge Burnette.
She is survived by her two sisters, Grace Lavinia Burnette Lunsford of Weaverville, and Mary Dean Burnette (Bill) Carter, and brother Willie James (Idel) Burnette of Moshiem, Tenn.
Virginia is survived by her son, George Curtis (Karen) Dills, of Olive Branch, Mississippi, her daughter, Delaine Darlene Dills of Skyland. Also, her precious grandchildren, Candace (Jay) Young of Fletcher, Claudine (Brad) Brown of Charlotte, Jennifer Glass (Doug) of Traveler's Rest, SC and John Curtis Shelor of Skyland. She is also survived by 5 beautiful great grandchildren, Hailey, Lauren, Chase, Cade and Tucker.
Virginia was born and lived in Buncombe County. Her long life was one of faithfulness, integrity, compassion and generosity. Her family was everything in the world to her. She was also a member of the Gerber Products family. She retired from there and took so much pride in her job. She loved being outside and working in her gardens. Her beloved boxer, Lady will be adopted and loved by family. So much appreciation and love goes to Uncle Bill Carter and Sherry Blissett who brightened her life every day these past few difficult years.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday at New Salem Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Chris Hall.

Virginia would like to know that she helped in some small way in the fight to find a cure.
