Wade O. Allen

He is a native of Henderson County and was the son of the late Jesse Paul and Maggie Lance Allen.  He served in the US Army during World War II.

He retired from Biltmore Dairy after 35 years of service.  He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Mills River where he was a deacon.  He was preceded in death by one sister, Asa Lee Moore; two brothers, Horace T. & Glenn Allen.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dorothy Lance Allen; four daughters and their husbands, Linda Crawford of Fletcher, Sandra and Randy Ledford of Fletcher, Sharon and Steve Chambers of Mills River, Alice and Tommy Cornett of Black Mountain; one brother, Clifford Allen of Fletcher; one sister, Sue Evans of Hendersonville; six grandchildren, Anna and husband Todd Bryan, Rebecca and Nathan Crawford, Dyna and Kristy Ledford, and Chevelle Cornett; three great grandchildren, Phillip and Jeremy Bryan and Elexa Crawford all of whom he adored.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with the Rev. Walter Taylor and Rev. Roy Rector officiating.  Interment will follow in Shepherd Memorial Park.

His family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 pm Monday at the funeral home, and at other times will be at the residence.
