Emmitt E. Davis

Mr. Davis was born in Swain County and was a son of the late Harvey Smith Davis and Cora Bolin Davis.  He was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen Holcombe Davis, a son, William Thomas Davis and two brothers, Lonnie Herman Davis and Everett Joseph Davis.

He was an Army Air Corps veteran of WW II and had lived in Haywood and Buncombe Counties for most of his live.  He worked at Enka for 38 years, until his retirement in 1984, and was a former member of the Moose Lodge.

He is survived by three daughters, Juanita D. Medford, Edith D. Parker, and Susan D. Ramsey, all of Asheville; two sisters, Viola Parris of Bryson City and Norma Sue Taylor of Candler, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Thursday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with James Robert Holcombe officiating.  Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

His family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
