Reverend Edward C. Barron Jr.

December 6, 1939 ~ October 1, 1999
Rev. Barron was born in Parkersburg, WV, was a son of the late Edward C. Barron, Sr., and was raised in Jacksonville, FL, where he graduated from Andrew-Jackson High School. He also graduated from Mars Hill College and attended the Southeastern Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC. He served on the pastoral staff of several churches, including Beverly Hills Baptist Church in Asheville, Tabernacle Baptist Church in Raleigh, Immanuel Baptist Church in Kinston and North Trenholm Baptist Church in Columbia, SC. Prior to his retirement he was pastor of Edgewood Baptist Church in Candler. He was also a long time volunteer at ABCCM.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Wright Barron; a son and daughter-in-law, Scott Edward and Kate Barron of Rockville, MD; a daughter and son-in-law, Carroll Sue and Philip Priddy of Asheville; three grandchildren, Charla Priddy and Cameron and Hannah Barron; his mother, Elsie Noland Barron of Jacksonville, FL; an aunt, Norma Noland of Jacksonville; a sister, Pattie B. Downs of Jacksonville, and a brother, Greg Barron of Knoxville, TN.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Monday at First Baptist Church, Asheville, with the Rev. Dr. Ron Crawford, the Rev. Dr. Buddy Corbin and the Rev. Billy Osigian officiating.
His family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service.
