Percy T. Stubbs

Percy T. Stubbs, 84, of 10 Oak Terrace Drive, Asheville, died Friday, October 22, 1999, at his home.


Mr. Stubbs was born in Gloster, MS, and was a son of the late Timothy and Mary Belle Stubbs.  He
was also preceded in death by two brothers, Julius W. Stubbs and Lewis M. Stubbs, and a sister, Clara S. Odom. Mr. Stubbs served in the
Civilian Conservation Corps in the late 1930’s and moved to Asheville in 1939.  He retired in 1977 after 35 years with American Enka and was a
member and choir member at Reeves Chapel United Methodist Church.


He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Frankie P. Stubbs;  two daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Dick Cagle of Selma, NC and Judy and Steve Emory of Weaverville;  a son and daughter-in-law, Gene N. Jr. and Shirley C. Stubbs of Asheville;  six grandchildren, Andrea Cagle of Raleigh, Michael Cagle of Selma, Gene N. Stubbs, Jr. of Candler, and Danyel Stubbs, Kim Stubbs, and Brandon Stubbs of Asheville;  a great-grandson, Kyle Stubbs of Candler;  a sister, Elry L. Pitts and a brother, Harmon Elmo Stubbs, both of
Little Rock, Arkansas.


Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Sunday at Reeves Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Phillip Hurst officiating.  Burial will be
in the church cemetery.


His family will receive friends from 7 - 9 pm Saturday in the church fellowship hall.
