A native of Center Hill, Fla. he was the son of the late Robert Lee and Lillie Belle Exum Kendrick and was the husband of the late Alice Lillian Lewis Kendrick.
Mr. Kendrick retired from the U.S. Marine Corps as a Master Sergeant after 21 years of service. He then worked for the U.S. Air Force as an aircraft mechanic and was a former resident of Coral Gables, Fla. Upon retiring in 1977 he moved to Boone, NC and attended Pilot Mountain Baptist Church. He returned to live with his daughter in Florida before moving to Asheville in 1997.
Mr. Kendrick is survived by his daughter, Carol Ann Schiller of Live Oak, Fla.; two sons Frank L. Kendrick of Columbia, SC, and Paul Kendrick of Arden, NC; one sister, Verlie Smith of Grand Prairie, Tex.; three brothers W.F. Kendrick of Lorida, Fla., W.A. Kendrick of Ft. Myers, Fla. and Stanley B. Kendrick of Lakeland, Fla. and two grandchildren, Hollond Ann Schiller and Christopher Lee Kendrick.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 18, 2000 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Purcell Funeral Home in Bushnell, Fla. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service. A military graveside service will follow in the Florida National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National World War II Memorial, 2300 Clarendon Blvd., Suite 501, Arlington, Va. 22201.
Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is in charge of local arrangements.
