Fred Thomas Israel

A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Tom and Edna Praytor Israel. He was a retired employee of Aramark and attended Mud Creek Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Becky Israel; four daughters, Kathy Miller and Becky Lathan of Fairview, Paula Stone of Candler and Portia Patrick of Asheville; a step-daughter, Tammy Howell of Horse Shoe; a son, Doug Israel of Candler; three sisters, Lois Hudson of Fletcher, Nancy Wright of Arden, Linda Calloway of Weaverville; five brothers, Jerome Herman Israel of Arden, Roy Israel of Etowah, Thomas Israel of Fletcher, Jerry Israel of Arden, Ronnie Israel of Hooper’s Creek and 8 grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 am Tuesday in the Boiling Springs Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Kenny Corn. Interment will be in Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 pm Monday at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian where Mr. Israel will remain until being placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
