Edmund Turner Slaughter, 68, of Ridgecrest, died Monday, July 17, 2000, in an Asheville hospital.

Mr. Slaughter was a native of Georgia and was a son of the late Jacob A. and Sarah Odum Slaughter. He was an Army veteran and was associated with Mosler Safe Co. for 34 years and a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy R. Slaughter; three sons, Edmund T. Slaughter, and Steven N. Slaughter of Buford, GA and K. Scott Slaughter of Chattanooga, TN; one step-daughter, Karen Karan of Davenport, FL; four sisters, Eloise Long and Janette Saffold of Madison, GA, Lois Whitaker of Mansfield, GA, and Virginia Wagnon of Stone Mountain, GA; and six grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 am Thursday at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with the Rev. David Webb officiating.

A second service will be at 11:00 am Friday in the chapel of Lowndes-McLanes Funeral Home, Tucker, GA, with burial at Floral Hills Memory Garden in Tucker.

Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is assisting the family.
