Fred Robert Shuford, 87, of 21 Wedgefield Drive, Asheville, died Monday, October 2, 2000, at the VA Medical Center.

Mr. Shuford was born in Vale, NC, and was a son of the late William Lee and Mae Goodman Shuford. He was married to Anna Mae Wilson Shuford who died in 1998. He was an Army veteran of WW II and was a farmer and tanker driver.

Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Gary J. and Linda Hopps Shuford of McLeansville, NC; two grandchildren, Mark Shuford and Susan Brooks; five great-grandchildren, Chelsea and Dustin Shuford and Lindsay, Cameron, and Joshua Brooks; and two sisters, Annie Lee Weaver of Newton and Beaulah Belle Floyd of Whiteville.

Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Thursday at Snow Hill Baptist Chruch Cemetery, Bakersville, with the Rev. Cecil Hopps officiating.

His family will receive friends from 7 - 8 pm Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
