Clarence J. Cathey

A native of Buncombe Co., he was the son of the late T. Garland Cathey and Annie Hawkins Cathey and was also preceded in death by a sister, Shirley E. Cathey.
He was a sheet metal worker with the United Brotherhood of Sheet Metal Workers and had twenty years service with the Yellow Cab Limo Service of West Asheville.
He is survived by three daughters, Susie Cathey McLean of Gatlinburg, Tenn., Peggy C. Woodard of Waynesville and Annie Marie Cathey of Roanoke, Va.; one son, Clarence J. Cathey, Jr. of Charlotte; a sister, Patricia Creasman of Asheville; two brothers, John McHone and Jewell McHone of Asheville; 8 grandchildren, Brad Wilson Cuthbertson, Megan McLean, Angela Woodard Milsaps, Jennifer Lynn Woodard, Charles J. Cathey, Christopher J. Cathey, Chelsea J. Cathey and Cameron J. Cathey; and four great-grandchildren.
Clarence, all of your friends and family will miss you, your positive realistic attitudes and opinions. Your enemies will have to find someone else new to respect. We will all spend the rest of our lives loving and trying to understand the wisdom you gave us. You gave more love than most will ever know. We love you Dad/Granddad/Brother and Friend. A memorial service will be held at 4:30 PM Monday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
