Winifred “Windy” Tow Shook, formerly of Asheville, died Friday, July 20, 2001, in a Charleston, SC, hospital.

Ms. Shook was originally from Asheville and was married to James Lawrence Shook of Fort Lauderdale, FL, who died in 1977. She had resided in Folly Beach, SC, for the past seventeen years. She retired from Nativity School and attended Folly Beach Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son, David S. Shook and his wife Linda, of Fort Lauderdale, FL; three grandchildren, Thomas Steward Shook, Timothy Scott Shook and his wife Gina and two sons Parker and Scott, and Tracey Selena Shook. Mrs. Shook made her home with her daughter, Sandra S. Clair, her husband Edward Robert Clair and her grandson Taylor Stuart Clair on Folly Beach. She also leaves behind four siblings living in Asheville, Juanita Clark, Ruth McCarson, Inez Williams, and William Tow.

Graveside services will be at 1:00 pm Sunday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Dr. Buddy Corbin officiating. Pallbearers will be Everett Clark, William Tow, Roy Elliot, Harold McCarson, Robert Miller and Luke Cook. Honorary pallbearers will be Randall Shook and Dr. Larry Rosenburg.

Her family will receive friends from 4 - 7 pm Saturday at the home of Inez (Mrs. Ed) Wilson, 47 Forest Street, Asheville.

Ms. Shook will be forever missed but not forgotten by her family and friends, especially by her grandchildren. May she rest in peace and live in eternity with her husband “Shook”.

  1. I have wonderful memories of Mr. and Mrs. Shook. It has been many years since I have seen Mrs. Shook but they live on in my memory just as they were in the late 60’s. I pray that Sandy receives the peace that comes from knowing that her mother is in a far better place than we have here on this earth.
