Mary Elizabeth Edmundson Robbins passed away Saturday, April 9, 2011 in Sarasota, FL. She was the only child of Seth E. Edmundson and Lucille Frady Creasman. She was born September 12, 1925 in Hendersonville and graduated from Hendersonville High School in 1943. She attended the University of Tennessee and worked for the VA Hospital where she met and married Clifton J. Robbins, who passed away in 1995. Most of their years together were lived in Buncombe County. Mary was instrumental in organizing the Skyland Fire Department and the first library in South Buncombe. She retired from Taylor Instrument Co. as production planner in 1989. Mrs. Robbins (Mini) is survived by a son, Jesse Dowless Robbins; daughter, Judith Moore (Doug); two grandsons, Stephen Robbins of Sarasota, FL and Robert G. Redden of Raleigh and granddaughter, Michelle Redden Brown of Woodruff, SC; three great grandsons and a great granddaughter. A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Thursday at New Salem Cemetery conducted. The family will receive friends at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Skyland Fire and Rescue, PO Box 640, Skyland, NC 28776.
