Rebecca Shuler MeHaffey, 62, of 311 Elder Lane, Yanceyville, NC, died Tuesday, January 8, 2002,
at Person Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born December 24, 1939, in Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Harley Shuler and
Nora Metcalf Shuler.
She is survived by her husband, Joe H. MeHaffey; one daughter, Laura Blackard of Semora, NC; two sons, Mark S. MeHaffey of Burlington, NC and Joe H. MeHaffey of Morristown, TN; two brothers,
William Metcalf of Candler and Rex Shuler of Bethel; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Friday in the
Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with burial to follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery in Clyde.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening at Marley Funeral Home in Yanceyville and again from 10 - 11:00 am Friday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue in Asheville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Crossnore School, PO Box 249, Crossnore, NC 28616 or to Caswell/Alamance Hospice, Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
