William "Bill" Marion Meadows, 62, of Starnes Cove Rd., died Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at his residence. A native of Buncombe Co., he was a son of Margaret Elizabeth Meadows and of the late George Franklin Meadows. He was the owner of Bill Meadows Cabinets and Countertops for 35 years. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of VFW Post 891. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Meadows; daughters Ashley Paige Wells of Candler, and Julie Diana Meadows and fiancee Rob Troms of Asheville; a son, William Marion Meadows, II and his wife, Sedonna, of Asheville; grandchildren Drake Wells, Zev Mills, and Sierra Mills; a sister, Judy Meadows Gibbs of Weaverville; and brothers Paul Meadows of Canton, Tommy Meadows of Leicester, and Kenneth Meadows of Leicester. A private graveside service will be held in the Bell United Methodist Church Cemetery, with a prayer said Mr. Bobby Robinson. Pallbearers will be Rob Troms, Bobby Ferguson, Colby Setzer, Mark Hightower, Brannon Stamey, Jerry Robinson, and Bobby Robinson. His family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bill Meadows Memorial Fund, 180 Smokey Park Hwy., Asheville, NC 28806.

  3. Billy was a pleasure to know. He was a skilled worker and could be trusted to do an excellent job. The picture in his memorial is a good example of his smiling and friendly nature. Gary, Shelley, and I offer our sympathy to his family.

  10. Ruth Ann, I am saddened and so very sorry to hear of your husband’s passing. I know your heart is hurting. I pray for God’s strength and comfort to surround you and your family through this most difficult time. I never had the pleasure of meeting Bill, but he surely must have been a fine man to have chosen such a wonderful lady to love. Hold fast to the memories and look forward to the day when you will see him again.
