Frank A. Johnson

FRANK A. “BUD” JOHNSON Frank A. “Bud” Johnson, 79, of Asheville, died Wednesday, December 24, 2003, at the Hospice Solace Center. Mr. Johnson was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late Frank A. Johnson, Sr. and Margaret Corpening Johnson. He was married to Maxine Franklin Johnson who died in 1990. He served with the US Navy during WW II on a mine sweeper in the Atlantic and on the USS Ozark in the Pacific. He retired in 1979 after 25 years with Wachovia Bank and Trust Co. where he served as a vice-president in the Sales and Finance Department. In addition he was proud to have his certification in diesel engineering. He also enjoyed singing with an award-winning barber shop quartet in his younger years. He was a charter member and trustee of Groce United Methodist Church where he was a long-time member of the Chancel Choir. Surviving are his daughter, Gay Lynn Williams and her husband Jeff of Boone and two grandchildren, Brian and Dan. A private family service has already taken place. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is assisting the family.
