Donald Calvin “Donnie” Davis, 57, of Candler, died on Friday, July 8, 2011, at the John F. Keever Hospice Solace Center.
Mr. Davis was born in Bristol, TN, but lived in Candler for most of his life. He was a son of the late Troy Calvin and Inez McFee Davis. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Steve Davis.
Mr. Davis had worked as a carpenter for H&M Constructors for 18 years. He enjoyed carpentry even in his time off from work by adding onto the home he built himself. He was also a great fan of NASCAR and Kyle Busch, and loved to spend time with his grandchildren. He’ll be remembered as a good husband, father, grandfather, and a friend to everyone.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Mitzi McCrary Davis; step-daughter, Martha Roberts, of Candler; step-son, Monty McCrary and wife Tammy, of Leicester; sister, Brenda Rhinehart and husband Danny, of Candler; brother, Scott Davis, of Candler; five grandchildren, three nieces, and five great-nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Mr. Davis will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. with the Revs. Doug Henson, Austin Watts, and Danny Rhinehart, his brother-in-law, officiating. Entombment will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
His family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

We were classmates together. I havent seen Donnie since school but it sounds like he has a great family and you will be in my prayers, may GOD bless and comfort all of you.

I knew Donnie many years ago when I was with David Lemasters . Donnie was a fun loving guy and always joking and laughing. I will miss him . RIP Donnie !

They liked seeing who could tell a bigger story. You have had a hard long road to hoe now it’s time to let somebody else take over and you rest. I know he sure loved you! And you him.
