Geneva Keith Nelon died peacefully in her Asheville home Tuesday, May 28, 2002, in her 86th year. Her caring nature, laughter and indomitable spirit continue to inspire her family and friends.
Geneva was born on October 14, 1915, the daughter of William Keith and LaVada Horsley Keith of Argo, AL. She is survived by her dear sister Judy Paretsky of McLean, VA; predeceased by her sister Margaret Morrow Hess and her brothers Ruben, Sam and Pete Keith. Geneva was the beloved wife of the late Ernest Louis Nelon for 52 years.
She leaves her son Keith Nelon, his wife Suzie; daughters Ann Mears, Linda Nelon, Vickie Matney and her husband David; loving grandchildren Michael and his wife Thrace, Dennis, “Baby” Louis and his wife Cindy, Carmen, Brittany, Dave, Garnett, Meredith and Quinn; great-grandchildren Shelly, Jamie, Thomas and Samuel. Geneva is survived by her fun-loving sisters-in-law Louise Keith, Frances Nelon, Evelyn Keith, Faye Coates, Helen Keith and Louise Nelon; her caring brothers-in-law Jack Paretsky and Roy Nelon and their families around the country.
Geneva spent many happy years in her Beaverdam home with her family and wonderful friends and relatives. The last several years she spent sharing her principles, sense of humor and love of flowers with her grandchildren and their friends. The Givens Estate staff always had the helpful hands, loving home attitudes and joyful voices that surrounded her in her last six months.
A gathering to honor Geneva will be held at Asbury Hall, Givens Estate, Sweeten Creek Road, on Friday, May 31, 2002 at 2:00 pm with the Reverend Joe Fulk officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following.
