Helen Frances Whitaker Hollifield, 75, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at Mission Hospital. A native of Buncombe County, she lived in the Fairview/Arden area most of her life and was the daughter of the late Arvin Whitaker and Lona Huntley Taylor. Helen was a CNA and was a caregiver to many over the years. She was a member of Asheville United Christian Church. Helen is survived by two sons, Rocky Hollifield and his wife, Kendall and by Shane Hollifield and his wife, Lisa. She was the loving and proud grandmother of four grandchildren, Kimsey and his wife, Lorna, Casey, Colby and Spencer Hollifield. Services for Helen will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, August, 15, 2011 in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with the Revs. Larry and Keith Nix officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Hendersonville. Flowers are accepted and appreciated. The family will receive friends from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Sunday and one hour before the service Monday at the funeral home.

She will be sorely missed! She was so much comfort to me when I lost my Mother a year and half ago, just knowing that she was Praying for my family. May God give you All the Strength and Peace you need at this time.   3. rocky and family so sorry about your mama I love your mother she was my friend she help me pray for my grandson i wanted her to meet him . she was a good friend and i love her very much it will be hard to look over there and not see her in her seat its gonna be said for not to see her.Im praying for you and family i know what it like to lose your mother..if anything i can do let me know love and prays martha gann and gladys..

  5. I visited with Helen 2 wks ago while she was working with a client. She talked about renewing her CNA certificate. She was a compassionate caregiver and we will miss her.
