Gerald Anthony "Tony" Henderson, 49, of Leicester, died on Sunday, October 2, 2011.
A native of Charlottesville, VA, he was a son of the late Houston and Ruth Muse Henderson.
Tony is survived and will be missed by his wife, Angela Hawkins Henderson; son, Justin Henderson; sister, Kae Arrington and husband Bill; brothers, Kirk Henderson and wife Jackie, and Fred Henderson; step-mother, Marcia McCall Henderson; step-sister, Merle Reese and husband Tony; step-brother, Richard King and wife Sandra; and numerous other family members and friends.
A memorial service for Mr. Henderson will be on Saturday at 12:00 noon at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. with the Rev. Tony Reese officiating.
His family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Flowers are appreciated, or donations may be made to Groce Funeral Home, 1401 Patton Ave., Asheville, NC 28806 to assist with expenses.

I have known Tony for a long time as a friend of Randy’s.
He has been to my house with Randy for dinner.
He was always so kind and nice.
He would always tell Randy to tell his Mom hello and he loved her.
He enjoyed going to Biltmore Baptist. He said it made him feel good. Our heart is broken and we will miss him so much, but we know he is in heaven with his Mom and Dad.
To my best friend justin hendeson and angela henderson. I am truly sorry for your loss. Tony was a great guy. and we will all miss him.

It was so sad to hear of Tonys passing. My mind immediately ran back to grammer school. I was flooded with memories of school and the bus ride home that we shared growing up. We were neighbors as well. Tony thank you for being a friend.Your smile will forever live in my memory. To the famiy that he left please know of our prayers. Tony, We will miss you!
