Lucy Odessa (Cockrell) Glover, 95 died on November 14, 2011 at Fleshers Fairview Health Care Center where she was tenderly cared for during her last nine years of life. She was preceded in death by one sister, Louise Hobson and three brothers, Sonny, Henry Allen, and Carl Cockrell. Odessa was born in Eutaw, AL and lived most of her life in Mobile where she worked with Central Optical Company. West End Baptist Church in Mobile meant much to Odessa. Later she lived in Rocky Mount, VA. She is survived by a daughter, Shirley Boone, Gerton, NC and husband, Jerry; two grandchildren, Derrick and wife, Kimberly of Greensboro; and Erin Bracey, husband, Peter of Concord; three great-grandchildren, Sam, Mattie, and Karlye along with numerous nephews and nieces. A family graveside service will be at Bearwallow Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Odessa's memory to the "Garden Fund" at Fleshers, 3016 Cane Creek Rd, Fairview, NC 28730. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is in charge of arrangements.
