Aldene Luther Reece, 84, went to be with the Lord Saturday, July 12, 2014, at the John F. Keever, Jr. Hospice Solace Center. Mrs. Reece was born in Buncombe Co. and was a daughter of the late Loran and Loretta Rhoades Luther and she was married to the late James C. "Jim" Reece. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Eugene and Carrell Luther. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, formerly worked at Mills Mfg. Co. and retired from Square D. Surviving are her son, Kenneth L. Swain and wife Brenda; grandchildren, Billy Swain and wife Rachelle, Stacey Swain and fiance Dan Flynn, and Jesse Swain and wife Lindsay; great-grandchildren, Grady, Landon and Hunter; sister, Eva Glenn and husband Woody; and brother, Rex Luther and wife June and eight nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Sluder Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church.
