Alisa Young "Allie" Nelson, age 52, died Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at her home in Columbus. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gunter & Peel Funeral Home. Services will be Saturday, November 7, 2015 at First United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Raigan Miskelly, and Rev. Ann Russell Bradley and officiating. Visitation will also be at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Tweed's Chapel Cemetery in Fletcher, NC Monday, November 9, 2015 at 2:00 PM, with Dr. Sam Morris officiating. The daughter of the late Orves F. Young, Mrs. Nelson was born December 5, 1962 in Knoxville, TN. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Sanctuary Choir and the Sojourners Sunday School Class. She was a graduate of the University of Tennessee and had a passion for writing. She is survived by her husband Christopher L. Nelson of Columbus, her son Christopher Ryan Nelson, US Navy, of San Antonio, TX, her daughter Christibeth Nelson of Starkville, MS; her mother Louise T. Young of Powell, TN and her brother Phillip Eugene Young (Stephen M. Fellner) of Brockport, NY and several special aunts and uncles. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 32, Columbus, MS 39703 or the Columbus-Lowndes Humane Society, P.O Box 85, Columbus, MS. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family with local services.

  1. Our sincere condolences in the passing of this beautiful young lady. Praying for strength for your family. We live in the neighborhood Lisa grew up. She babysat my two children once and they really liked her.

  2. Oh GOSH! This is very sad. I was Alisa’s friend back in the 70’s but lost touch when they moved to Powell.

    I’m sorry to hear this. I was doing a search hoping to find her on FB or something. This is very sad. Your family has my condolences..

  3. I don’t know if you would remember us or not but this is Wendy cinnamon me and my sister Nancy used to come come and play with her and Phillip when we lived up on Burns Road. This is a shock to me I need to let you know that Nancy passed away 5 years ago as well so hopefully they found each other.
