Allie Marie Austin, of Asheville, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2016. Allie was a Godly woman who brought joy to everyone she met. She was a loving mother, Nana, sister and friend. She was a proud member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church, where she attended every time the doors were open. Although sick in her latter years, she never failed to have a smile on her face. Allie loved gardening, crafts, and reading her Bible. She was loved beyond measure and will be missed greatly. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Jeter and Clara McPeterson Austin. She was also preceded in death by siblings Bonnie Wallace, Eloise Jones, Robert Austin, Coy Austin and Roy Austin. She is survived by one daughter, Kim Howard and her husband, Tim; two grandchildren Haley Howard and Tyler Howard; one sister, Louise Crowder and her husband, Ray and two brothers, Charles Austin and his wife, Sonja and Earl Austin and his wife, Marilee. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Chapel Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Willard Pruitt and Reverend Larry Turner officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. Flowers are appreciated, but for those who choose, a memorial donation may be made in Allie's name to the National Parkinson Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131 (www.parkinson.org).
