Andrew Jesse Parrott, 79, of 119 Belmont Ave., Asheville, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 16, 2006. A Buncombe Co. native, Mr. Parrott was the son of the late Claude and Gladys Morgan Parrott. Mr. Parrott was also preceded in death by his wife, Vera Elouise McCurry Parrott, who died in 2005, by his son, Donald Lee “Donnie” Parrott, who died in 1980 and by his brother, Marshall Parrott. Mr. Parrott was a retired printer from Blue Ridge Printing. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church, but attended Happy Valley Baptist Church. Mr. Parrott was a veteran of the United States Navy. He is survived by his three daughters, Diane Mathis and her husband, Louis, of Asheville, Teresa Smith and her husband Roy, of Taylors, SC, and Sandy Rice and her husband Billy, of Clover, SC; two sons, David Parrott and his wife Nancy, of Landrum, SC, and Vernon Parrott and his wife Darlene, of Asheville; 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. with the Rev. Charles Surrett officiating. Interment will follow at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Rick Matthews, Mark Parrott, David Parrott, Roy Smith, Jr., John Parrott, Travis Dickens, Tyler Gossett, Falcon Kasey Rice, and Billy Rice. His family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. At other times, they will be at the home of Vernon Parrott at 14 King Arthur Place, Asheville, NC, 28806.
