Anita Darling McFee

Anita Darling McFee, formerly of Indiana Avenue, West Asheville, went to be with the Lord Thursday, December 28, 2006, at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock. Mrs. McFee was born May 30, 1930, in Plattsburg, MO, and was a daughter of the late Floyd and Maudeccia Taylor Darling. She attended Warren Wilson College and worked at Winner’s Beauty Salon for more than 30 years. She was a member of the VFW Post 891 Ladies Auxiliary and a former member of Montmorenci United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Robert B. McFee; one daughter, Colleen Gail Harmsworth and her husband, Graham; one son, Michael S. McFee and his wife, Sarah; five grandchildren, Erin McFee Fletcher and her husband, Stephen, Ryann Darney Lee, Kathryn Taylor Lee, Connor Anne Harmsworth, and William Carl Coin; two great-grandchildren, Kennedy Elisabeth Fletcher and Peyton Tyler Fletcher; a brother, Larry, and a sister, Frances. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery Chapel with the Rev. Fr. Tom Brackett officiating and Edith Hodge reading the eulogy. Burial will be in the Veterans Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
