Antonina Cuccia Fossati

Fletcher ~ Antonina Cuccia Fossati, 91, of Briarbrook Road, Fletcher, died on Thursday, May 29, 2008 in Park Ridge Hospital. A native of Contessa Entilina, Italy. She was the daughter of the late John and Vita Canzoneri Cuccia. Nina came to the U.S. at the age of 11 and resided in New Orleans until her late twenties. She then returned to Italy before World War II and worked for the American Consulate. She married Silvio Fossati, who died in 2005, in Milan, Italy and then returned to the U.S. residing in New York and Connecticut until her retirement in Hendersonville, NC. Nina was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by two daughters, Sylvia Ballard and husband Jerry of Asheville and Jane Gabriele and husband Tom of Norwalk, CT; three grandchildren, Nicole Gabriele, William Hager and Ashley Gabriele. Interment of ashes will be held at a later date at St. Charles Cemetery in Long Island, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Four Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care, P.O.
