Barbara “Bobbie” June Early Rogers, 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 27, 2025. She was surrounded by family as she left this world behind to spend eternity in the presence of Jesus Christ, her Savior and Lord.
She was born on June 20, 1935, to Brasco Madison and Mary Sue Creasman Early. Known by many names – Bobbie, Mom, Nanny, Aunt Bobbie and Ms. Bobbie, she lived a life of service to the Lord by loving her family and loving children. She and her sister, Nadine, started Bent Creek Kindergarten (now Bent Creek Preschool) in 1969. A faithful member of West Asheville Baptist Church for 45 years, she served many years as the Sunday School Director for preschool children, as well as working in the church’s daycare program and “Kids Morning Out.” Each child was so precious to her that many years later she could recall not only the child, but the parents, as well. Working with children was her ministry and her joy in caring for little ones was contagious.
She loved music and played piano. She could hear a song, then play it without written music. Many family memories were made around the piano. She loved her family and prayed faithfully for them.
Bobbie married Carlie, the love of her life, on February 20, 1954. Together, they built a beautiful life, devoted to each other for more than 71 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Brasco Madison Early, Jr. (Mary Lou); sisters, Mary Frances Early Greene (Albert) and Shirley Nadine Early Edmonds (Charles); and her firstborn granddaughter, Carla Brown.
She is survived by her husband, Carlie Willard Rogers; her children, Terri and Bob Miller, and Vicki and Roger Morgan; her grandchildren, Caryn and Robert Huggins, Allen and Traci Morgan, Allison and Jamie Frady and Chip Brown; her great-grandchildren, Walker and Marie Brown, Coleman Frady, Carlissa Huggins, Cade Morgan, Morgan Frady, Caroline Morgan, Isaac Huggins and Kyri; one great-great-grandchild, Miles Brown (plus one on the way); as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Her family will receive friends on Monday, June 30, beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at West Asheville Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m., officiated by the Revs. Tony Hooper and G. Scott Lynch. The graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 2, at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Allen Rash will officiate and her grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, her family requests that contributions be made to the West Asheville Baptist Church “Building a Legacy” Fund, 926 Haywood Rd., Asheville, NC 28806.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.

I have so many wonderful memories as a child at Bent Creek and living next to Bobbie and Carlie. They treated me as if I was their own. Both my parents were there to greet her as she stepped into heaven. Heaven just gets sweeter and sweeter.
We want be able to attend the service as we have an engagement at 3-5pm in Hendersonville, NC!
I always referred to her as aunt Bobbie, even though I sometimes I felt out of place this wonderful lady always made me feel like that I was part of the family. Aunt Bobbie was a wonderful lady, one that I will always remember. Prayers to all the family.
