Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. My condolences to the Hyde family. I was a Boy Scout with Bennie in Troop 138 for many years. I have fond memories of Bennie’s poems that he wrote and still one committed to memory that he wrote. I also attended Calvary Baptist with your parents way back then. So glad you included a picture of him.
We had a lot of good times together around the campfires. God has him now and he waits on all of us to cross through the veil to him. My prayer is that you all trust in Jesus as your Savior. He will guide you to Himself if you call upon his Name. May God bless this time of remembrance.

  2. Our deepest condolences to Ben’s family and friends. We are very sorry for your loss, and will certainly Miss Ben’s smile.

  3. Charles and I are so very sorry we can’t be with you all on Saturday, but we send our love and prayers. Charles Robert, Maria, Glenn and Lynette send theirs too. Please let us know if we can help in any way.

  4. Deborah and Lynn, so sorry to hear of your brother’s passing. You are in my thoughts.

  5. Karen and family, we are sad to hear of Bennie’s untimely passing. As neighbors, we all grew up together so we will always remember his thoughtful personality and his smile. You and your family are in our hearts and our thoughts at this time of loss. I will be unable to attend the Saturday memorial service but will remain mindful of Bennie’s life and remembrance celebration.

  6. I am so sorry to hear this news. My deepest sympathies to the family. I have many fond memories of times spent in Ben’s house during the late 80’s and early 90s.

  7. Our family loved Ben as a friend and brother in Christ. He was a very gifted man and a most pleasant person to know. He was in school with our oldest daughter, Rebekah and he attended West Asheville Baptist Church where we
served as Pastor and Minister of Music. He made my husband a most unusual gift of the Ten Commandments which he etched on two stones. He was a brilliant man but humble and unassuming. We offer our deep sympathy and prayers to the family and at the same time, we rejoice that Ben is with His Lord and Savior. We will see him again.

  8. I remember Ben from our days at Enka High School. He was highly intelligent and a deep thinker which seems to be a family trait. I am sorry to hear of his passing.

  9. Thinking of you all during this sad and difficult time. I’m sorry we cannot be there in person for Ben’s service but please know you all are in our thoughts and prayers. Sending much love!

  10. Deborah,
I’m so sorry about Ben. Just wanted you to know I’m thinking of you and keeping your family in my prayers.

  11. We are sorry to hear about Ben and also regret that we will be out of town on Saturday and Sunday and not be able to see any of you. Your family is special to us. Kitty was always calm but you did not doubt where she stood. Herbert was in our Sunday school class and we appreciated his wit and his Bible knowledge. We have had the privilege getting to know the family by your presence at Calvary. Ben’s voice was beautiful, I loved to hear him sing. I have great memories of being at Caswell with Jane. One year William was in the Sunday evening class. You family hospitality was enjoyed many times as we ate outside with you. You are in our prayers.

  12. Sad to learn of Bennie’s passing. We were classmates at Vance, St. Joan of Arc, and Enka High School. Bennie was incredibly bright with a sweet and sensitive heart. My condolences to his family.

  13. We have known the Hyde family for years, and watched the children grow into adults. I never thought a time would come to be attending a funeral for one of them.
We are so sorry that Ben will not be with us.
He was our friend that lived with us for five years in his mobile home he rented from us.
To his family we mourn with you and will be praying for you all.

  14. Scott and I will meet you in the morning! Know he is enjoying our Savior’s presence and that he is singing His praises even now! We shall misshim on our visit to GFBC. We thank God for knowing him and for his being a friend!

  15. I remember the first time I met Ben he told me that my name meant pretty or beautiful and that my name was well chosen. I always cried when he sang and He sang at my wedding. I don’t think I ever truly appreciated how learned he was or took advantage of his depth of knowledge of the Bible. I am sad but encouraged because I know he loved the Lord.

  16. Jane,
My condolences on the loss of your brother. Let your fond and loving memories take away the pain of your loss.
