Bertie Boone Sams, 91, of Asheville, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday July 21, 2010.
Bertie was born December 24, 1919 in Madison County. She was the daughter of the late Maude and Lewis Boone of Madison County.
Surviving are her husband, Glenn W. Sams of Asheville; her son Charles Sams of Atlanta, GA, and Daughter Samantha (Norma) Salvadorini of Lexington NC
Bertie has four sisters, Bonnie Gosnell of Marshall, Bethel Ammons of Weaverville, Beulah Brown of Shelby, Birma Sawyer of Swannanoa, and Brothers Wayne and Ernest Boone.
Bertie has 3 grandchildren, Lisa Salvadorini Cascardo of New York, Kimberly Salvadorini of New York and Diana McSpadden of Williamsburg VA. Bertie has one Great Grandson Miikko Salvadorini Cascardo, and one Great Grandaughter Harper McSpadden.
Bertie spent much of her time working for the Clerk of the Court for Buncombe County. Bertie was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church and member of the Asheville Chapter of the Eastern Star.
The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at Groce Funeral Home.
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday at 3 p.m., July 24, 2010, in the Groce Funeral Home 1401 West Patton Ave. Asheville. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Enka NC following the service.

We wish to offer our sincere sympathy to the family of Sister Bertie. We are members of Biltmore Chapter No. 38 Order of the Eastern Star where she was a member. I loved Aunt Bertie…treasure the times I spent at her house…she gave me my first ride on the electric pony at West Gate Mall…allowed me to play dress up with Norma’s clothes and shoes..(my older cousin that I looked up to …thought was the most beautiful …and dreamed of being just like one day….allowed me to roam the neighborhood and go on adventures with Charle…You are and will forever be missed Aunt Bertie…Vanda
Glenn, I am so sorry to hear of Berties passing. I wish I had known as I was at Groce Friday night and again Saturday for Jack’s funeral.
The kids and I send sincere sympathy to you and famile. I loved Bertie and remember all the good times our families had together.
