November 25, 1970 ~ October 31, 2024

Born in: Taylor, Michigan
Resided in: Alexander, NC

Beth Margaret LaFleur of Alexander, NC, a beloved mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, niece, cousin, and friend, passed away on Thursday, October 31st, 2024, at her home due to declining health at age 53. She was born on November 25th, 1970, in Taylor, Michigan, to the late Gayle R. Bartlett Grant and Russell Lee LaFleur. (Her father passed two months before her birth).

Beth went to college for computer technology and then managed hotels for many years to follow in her mother’s footsteps. She has been a caregiver to her parents for the past seven years.

She was a loving mother to her two children and like a mother to their best friends. Beth gave her children the childhood any child could ever dream of. Whether it was going all out for the holiday family traditions, playing make-believe and doing crafts, taking family vacations, or making home-cooked meals even when she had to make Brittanie’s separate because she was so picky. She even got a job at the skating rink so her children could do what they loved. Beth gave her all into Brittanie and Russell’s childhood then continued it to her grandchildren whom she loved so dearly.

In addition to her parents, Beth is preceded in death by her son, Russell Victor Penley; her grandmothers, Margaret “Granny” King, Patricia LaFleur and Hazel Grant; and her grandfathers, Ellsworth LaFleur and Wallace King.

She is survived by her stepfather, Donald Christopher Grant; her daughter, Brittanie LaFleur; her sisters, Amy Farmer and Annette Grant; her brother, Donald Grant Jr; her grandsons, Drayton Sweezy (14), Kayson LaFleur (8), Russell Lucus Penley (10), and Melakai Penley (7); her aunt, Vicki Hollifield (Tony); her uncle, Terry King (Evelyn); along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of life will be held at the sanctuary of Trinity Baptist Church, 216 Shelburne Rd., Asheville, NC 28806, on Sunday, November 10th, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Allen Rash will officiate.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I have such fond memories of Beth when she was growing up. She was so precious and sweet. I can still see her and her sister, Amy, riding on Grampa King’s knee.
Through the years she has impressed us with her hard work, her love and tireless caregiving for her family, and her strength during hard times. She didn’t give up.
Now, with so many family members and Jesus there to welcome her home, we have peace that she is safe forevermore. She will be missed by all who loved her.
Uncle Terry and Aunt Evelyn ❤️🙏
