Betty Ann Mickalunas Lindsey

Betty Ann (Mickalunas) Lindsey’s life was a testament to the power of love and connection. She passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2025, at the Elizabeth House, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and kindness after a short illness. Born on February 25, 1947, in Ladysmith, Wisconsin, to the late Wlyma (Red) Tweed and the late Frank Mickalunas, she grew into a compassionate and caring individual.

As a resident of Buncombe County, she touched countless lives. Her dedication to her work at Taylor’s Instrument was inspiring, and her retirement was a celebration of her tireless efforts. Betty’s heart was open to everyone she met, and she had a gift for making each person feel seen and loved. She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Though she was preceded in death by her parents, her brother James Mickalunas, her son Douglas Allen Lindsey, and her daughter Tammy Lindsey, her memory will live on through the countless lives she touched. Her daughter Kathy Lindsey (Fletcher, NC), her son Thomas Lindsey (Mt. City, Tennessee), her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, including Christy Lindsey (Jesse Sauvé), Daniel Surratt, Brittany Cross (Shane Cross), Steven Lindsey, Samantha Lindsey, Tyler Lindsey, and six great-grandchildren, will cherish her memory forever. Her beloved cat, Tiddels (Sparkles), and many dear friends will also deeply miss her. Betty’s life was a shining example of the impact one person can have on the world.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 31 in the Chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. Her family will greet friends at the funeral home immediately following the service.
