Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I think of her and think of her sweet little smile. I always loved chatting with her. You could always see the love she had for her family and for the Lord.

    • She had an open mind, a heart for children, and so much energy. She was an example to me of how to age well.

  2. She had a smile that you can never forget, and the love of God that would pour out onto everyone around her.
    She will be missed.

  3. Betty was a beautiful lady and a sweet friend. We will miss her but we have the promise of being together again forever one day. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, it is always hard to say goodbye. Hold to the precious memories of a great legacy, until that wonderful day you are reunited.

  4. I’m so sorry for your loss. I pray the God of all comfort will help you during this difficult time. (2Corinthians 1:3,4 & Psalms 83:18). Jesus taught us to pray for God’s Kingdom to come because He knew it would be able to solve all mankind’s problems even sickness and death. (Revelation 21:3,4 & Daniel 2:44).

  5. MAY GOD COMFORT YOU IN YOUR LOSE. SHE WAS A VERY LOVELY PERSON. I WILL MISS HER VERY MUCH.

  6. John, David, & Mary Frances, I am so sorry to see that your mom passed away. She was a lovely person and I have many fond memories of her and your dad. John passed away in March and she sent me a sweet card. I know you will miss her because she was a wonderful mother. I know she had a strong faith and she is rejoicing in heaven. You are all in my prayers.

  7. Betty Barrier was a beautiful soul that touched my life in a very special way. She was there for me as a child like a loving Mother and a caring adult. Her family took me in when I needed it most. Her children will always be “family” to me. John, David, Mary and myself had many laughs and wonderful moments as kids. I pray her and Ron are dancing among the stars! My deepest sympathies to all her family and friends. She will not be forgotten.

  8. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends. Betty was a gem of a volunteer in the Foster Grandparent Program and eagerly served on committees at Land of Sky Regional Council. Her lovely smile and gentle spirit will be greatly missed.

  9. Ms. Barrier was precious to me. She was a joy to be around.
She was such a faithful volunteer and her presence at Johnston Elementary will be missed. She touched many lives in her time there, including my own.
I am praying that her family and loved ones are comforted. I am thankful for our Hope of Heaven.

  10. Betty taught children’s Sunday School class for many years at First Christian Church in Candler. She was loved by children and adults. She was smiling all the time. She had such a gentle manner and sweet personality. I miss her. She wan an angel on earth ….

  11. I’m so sorry that this virus is making travel difficult and we can’t be there for the service. My Dad says that he was very blessed to have Betty as a sister. She meant a lot to me and influenced my decisions to work with children–especially those who were square pegs who didn’t quite fit in. I loved hearing stories of the children that she worked with and about growing up on the farm. It was fun to laugh with her at Family Reunions. She will be missed. John, David, and Mary–Remember that you will always have family in Southeast Ohio. Let us know how we can be helpful.

  12. Grandma Betty was an inspiration to the children and teachers she worked with at Eliada. Betty worked in my three-year old classroom for many years during the summer and she was a treasure and a joy! She had a beautiful heart and compassion beyond compare. She will be greatly missed and will always be a member of the Eliada family.

  13. Betty was an amazing teacher for our children with special needs. She saw the child first and then the disability. She treated them with kindness but with expectations. She welcomed me as a speech therapist into her classrooms. She was a light always! She will be missed! Love to her family. She leaves a great legacy!

  14. I’m so sorry for our loss. I pray the God of all comfort will help her family during this difficult time. She will be missed . My heart is with her family . Betty I will missed you in my live

  15. I only had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Barrier a handful of times but I know her well through the conversations I had with her son John. I know she was a wonderful Christian woman who loved her family and her church. I know she’s in such a wonderful place now enjoying the company of those we can only read about in the Bible. How exciting that must be for her. Now she awaits filled with peace and joy and a new healthy body for her family to join her one day and what a celebration that will be. John, Sara and family, may God bring you peace during this difficult time but always remember where she is now and who she is with. Prayers for you all.

  16. I will think of her often and miss her and the beautiful cards she would send me on my birthday and get well cards when I needed one. Heaven gained a precious soul.

  17. Betty was amazing. I had the honor of working with her for several years at Johnston Elementary School when she served as a volunteer in our second grade classrooms. She was there every single day for six hours a day, nurturing and teaching ALL of the children. When she worked with small groups she insisted on sitting on the floor. She told me she preferred being on the floor, which I found incredible. She was particularly fond of the most difficult children and would sit close to them, always there to lend a hand or whisper an encouraging word. We communicated mostly through eye contact because she was an educator with great instincts. I depended on her, as we all did, and I treasure the time we had together in my classroom.

  18. Mrs. Barrier helped my son Keith so much at Johnston. We also live in the same neighborhood and he enjoyed helping her in the yard. She was a very precious lady. My family sends their deepest condolences and will remember you in our prayers.

  19. I extend my sincere condolences to the family. I only had the opportunity to know Betty a little, working as an assistant at Johnston Elementary School. I always went out of my way to greet her and have small talk when we taught small groups in the same room. We had some common threads, and I thought of her as one of my buddies. What drive, what commitment to children… I will miss her.
