BETTY C. KING Betty Conner King, 76, of 402 Liberty Road, Candler, died Tuesday, December 9, 2003, in an Asheville hospital. Mrs. King was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late H.D. and Lavada Crawford Conner. She was also preceded in death by a sister Margaret Webb and brothers Letch and Claude Conner. She retired in 1985 after 27 years with Square D and was a member of Oak Hill United Methodist Church and the Methodist Women’s Fellowship. She is survived by her husband, William C. King; one daughter Brenda Mears and her husband Jack of Asheville; three sons, Barry King and his wife Amy of Candler, Bruce King and his wife Rhonda of Old Fort and Blake King and his wife Rebecca of Raleigh; seven grandchildren, Mark Jarvis, Melana Jarvis, Brent King, Tyla King, Cody King, Austin King and Meghan King; two great-grandchildren, Zack King and Levi King; two sisters, Ruth Reece of Greensboro and Faye Black of Fort Myers, FL; and two brothers Joe Conner of Candler and Scott Conner of Fairview. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Kim Higgins, Mark Jarvis and Enoch Ball, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 7:00 - 9:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
