Betty Ellen Duckett

Betty Ellen Rogers Duckett, 90, of Asheville, died Sunday, December 20, 2015. A native of the Crabtree section of Haywood Co., Mrs. Duckett lived in Buncombe Co. for most of her life. She was a daughter of the late Marcus Boone and Maneese Medford Rogers. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Willard Duckett, sisters Adeline R. Belich and Eva R. Tate, and brothers Davis, Russell, and Taylor Rogers. Mrs. Duckett retired from Taylor Instrument Co. in 1984. She was a member of Big Sandy United Methodist Church and Dix Creek Chapel United Methodist Church. Surviving are her daughters, Lucy M. Duckett and Eva L. Duckett; grandchildren, Jaime and Hannah Kirk; brother Edwin Rogers and wife Cenie; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Green officiating. Burial will follow at Big Sandy United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Big Sandy UMC or to Dix Creek Chapel UMC.
