Betty Swann Plemmons

betty plemmons

Betty Swann Plemmons, 86, of Asheville, NC, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 5, 2025.

Born December 16, 1938, in Buncombe Co., she lived nearly her entire life in West Asheville. At age 15, she met Jerry R. Plemmons, her soulmate and the great love of her life. They married soon after and shared 52 years together, raising their children and building a life rooted in faith, steadiness, and devotion. Her love for him never dimmed—constant and full-hearted, it shaped how she lived and how she loved others.

A devoted homemaker, Mrs. Plemmons was a longtime member of West Asheville Baptist Church, where she served faithfully in several ministries. She was known for her quiet strength and unwavering optimism, even in the face of great loss. She always found the good in people and expressed her faith through action, doing for others without hesitation and with a heart full of grace. She trusted deeply in God’s plan and found joy in life’s smallest details—cardinals that brought her comfort and a sense of connection to those she had lost, and deer in the yard she fed each day without fail.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry R. Plemmons; her son, Dean Plemmons; her sister, Barbara Davis; and her brothers, Ed, Harold, Blaine, Paul, Neal, Bill Jr., and Carl Swann.

She is survived by her children, Michelle Carter (Gary), Lynn Plemmons Morgan, and Dale Plemmons (Heather), and a daughter in law Becky Plemmons; her grandchildren, Summer Collins, Shane Plemmons, Ashley Branks, Chris Morgan, Blake Morgan, Dawn Mitchell, Danielle Snellen, and Analee Plemmons; and her great-grandchildren, Austin Collins, Barrett Branks, Drake Branks, and a fourth expected in August.

Her family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, June 13, at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will then take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park
