Bobby Joe McCurry, 51, of 518 Shamrock Drive, Skyland, died Thursday, January 31, 2008, at Memorial Campus Mission Hospitals. A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of Glenda Baker McCurry of Asheville and the late David McCurry. Mr. McCurry was owner/operator of Bill Hawkins Used Car Lot. In addition to his mother, Mr. McCurry is survived by his wife of 35 years, Marlene Stines McCurry; a son, Brandon McCurry of Durham; sister, Carolyn Swann of Asheville and brother, Dewayne McCurry of Arden. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Sunday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Allen Rash and Jerry Young officiating. Burial will follow at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 7:00-8:30 pm Saturday at the funeral home.

  15. I am really sorry to hear about Bobbys death. It saddens my heart to look at all the years that have gone by since we ran around together. Although it has been many years since I have seen him or Marlene, I have thought of them often. I will always remember Bobby and Marlene as good friends and we had many crazy times together. I am so sorry I missed his funeral, I just heard about his death today. I wish all the best to his family.
