Bobby Lee Bright, 83, of Swannanoa, died Friday, April 29, 2016, at the Charles George VA Medical Center.
A native of Swannanoa, NC, Mr. Bright was a son of the late John and Blanche Robinson Bright. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Reis.
Mr. Bright was a veteran of the U.S. Army. While stationed in Germany, he worked in a hospital with children, a time he fondly remembered and enjoyed sharing with people.
Mr. Bright was a local historian, and especially enjoyed telling stories about Swannanoa. He loved talking, and never met a stranger. He liked tinkering and repairing clocks, collecting coins, and made a garden every year.
Mr. Bright is survived by his wife, Ann Bridges Bright; son-in-law, Jeff Reis; grandchildren, Miah Reis and fiance Rick Jones, and Elijah Reis and wife Nicole; and other family members.
Mr. Bright will be having a joint service with his brother-in-law, Mr. Arthur Bridges, at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. Military honors for Mr. Bright will be performed by the North Carolina National Guard. Both families will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

They never made but one of Bobby Bright. He was a very funny and likeable guy. He was a Good Man and was always good to all of my family. We used to take the kids there every year to Trick or Treat, it was their favorite place. We all loved him and he will be missed a lot around here by everyone. ANN I’M SO SORRY TO HEAR BOBBY PASSED AWAY.HAVEN’T SEEN YOU IN A WHILE . BOBBY WAS A GOOD MAN . PHIL & I THOUGHT A LOT OF HIM .I REMEMBER HE WAS A TALKER . DON’T KNOW WHO WAS BETTER AT IT HIM OR PHIL . HE W ILL BE MISSED . YOU ARE IN MY PRAYERS . JUST TRUST GOD TO GET YOU THROUGH . WITHOUT GOD I DON’T THINK I COULD HAVE GOTTEN THROUGH IT .
