Cal was a wonderful man and will be missed, indeed. We were lucky to know him. Our thoughts and prayers are with Nora and his daughters.

Calvin Bayne of Arden, North Carolina, passed away February 23, 2025 at the age of ninety-one.
Calvin was born to Florence and William Bayne in Fordville, North Dakota, where he was raised on a farm. He worked the fields during the summer and fall harvest. His first trip out of Fordville was after graduation from high school when he rode a bus to Melbourne, Florida to live with his brother. He returned to North Dakota a year later to earn a Bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of North Dakota, and later in his career, an MBA from Syracuse University.
He served proudly in the U.S. Army for 30 years, rising to the rank of colonel. He was stationed in Germany and Japan, stateside bases and at the Pentagon, serving as Comptroller in the Medical Services Corp. After retirement from the military, he worked as the Business Manager at San Antonio State Hospital for a decade before retiring again.
In addition to his parents, his two brothers predeceased him, Robert Bayne, of Melbourne Florida and Douglas Bayne of Fordville, ND. Cal was also preceded in death by his first spouse, Marian Parry Bayne, mother of their three children. Marian was diagnosed with brain cancer and passed away in 1990. He was a family man and his daughters were the light of his life. He persevered through many challenges in life and just kept going.
He is survived by his wife, Nora Bayne, to whom he was married for thirty-one years, his three children: Kathleen Richmond (and her spouse Fred Richmond) of Colleyville, Texas, Diane Bayne of Redwood City, CA, and Patricia Bayne of Austin, Texas and much loved grandchildren Sarah Richmond, and Rebecca Voskuil (and her spouse Jordan Voskuil) and their daughters Aubrey and Caroline, of Coppell, Texas.
Cal enjoyed golf, time spent with his golfing buddies, and on home improvement projects, yard work, and tinkering. He was known to be able to fix or repair anything. He planned annual cruises to foreign countries which preceded the enjoyment of the country itself and its cuisine.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Calvin to the American Heart Association.
A service will be held in Calvin’s honor at Calvary Episcopal Church.
