Carol Gwendolyn Gasaway, 75, of Asheville, died Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at The Laurels of Summit Ridge.
A native of Buncombe Co., she was a daughter of the late Clyde and Alice Bailey Shepherd. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Gasaway.
Mrs. Gasaway worked as an RN for Mission Hospital for twenty-seven years.
Surviving are her son, Donald S. Gasaway and wife Colleen; grandchildren, Autumn Long, Christian Gasaway, and Kody Gasaway; great-granddaughter, Alessa L. Long; brother, Joe-Ray Shepherd; and brother-in-law, the Rev. Jack R. Gassaway.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday at Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Rd.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 18, at the Western Carolina State Veteran's Cemetery Chapel in Black Mountain.
I remember Carolyn and Ralph when we all went to Trinity Baptist church together. I taught Donald in Sunday School. Donald your parents were very sweet. I will keep your family in my prayers.
