Carolyn Ann Collins Dale

Carolyn Ann Collins Dale (known to all as Mama Dale), 82, of Asheville, NC passed away at the Campus of Mission Hospital on August 7, 2024.

Born December 23, 1941 in Haywood County (Waynesville), NC, Carolyn was a daughter of the late Mary Collins Scruggs Hugo. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Vernon McCoy Dale, whom she wed on August 4, 1962, and by a brother, Charles “Buddy” Collins, and great-grandparents, Hobart WM “Hobe” and Nellie Ball Collins.

Mrs. Dale graduated from Waynesville Township High in 1960, and from Blanton’s Business College. She started in insurance for Southern Commercial Underwriters and later worked in childcare. She also worked in her later years with her husband for the West Campus of Biltmore Church. She was a previous member of Allen’s Creek Baptist Church, and a longstanding member of Deaverview Baptist Church, and most recently became of member of Biltmore Church. Carolyn was well known for her cooking and treats, especially potato candy, Russian tea, and chicken and dumplings.

Surviving are her daughters, Terri Dale-Yates (Danny) and Kelli Dale (Glenn “GT” Worley); grandsons, Blake Dale, Dalton Dale (Meredith) and Colton Dale; and precious great-grandson, Weston.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 16th, at 3:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Candler. The Rev. Curt McClure will officiate.
