Catherine (Cat) Sherman McMinn

Flat Rock – Catherine (Cat) Sherman McMinn, 78, of Flat Rock, NC was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, September 19, 2025.

Mrs. McMinn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister.

She retired from Kimberly Clark (Berkley Mills) after 25 years. She loved going to church and spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed angels, beautiful flowers, butterflies and watching the birds.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Hugh (Moe, Hub) McMinn; her parents, William (Bill) Sherman and Grace (Texie) Marshall Sherman; her sister, Joy Bell Jones; two brothers, William Roy Sherman and Johnny L. Sherman; two great granddaughters, Harper Jade, Hannah Grace Sass and son-in-law Scott Conard.

Left to cherish memory are her daughters, Rachel Conard of Hendersonville, NC, Glenda Sass (Tim) of Clyde, NC and Verlyn Owenby (Vince) of Fletcher, NC; four grandchildren, Kaitlin Moody (Dennis), Caleb Sass (Peyton), Bethany Kelly (James), and Justin Owenby (Aubrey); three great grandsons, Brentley, Silas and Levi Sass whom she adored; a brother, Troy Lee Sherman (Frances) of East Flat Rock, NC; several nieces and nephews, brother and sister in laws and friends.

She loved her Lord and Savior and would witness to everyone she met. Now she is healed and in the presence of the Lord and safe in His arms.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian in Arden with Pastor Allen Rash officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.

She is deeply missed by all who loved and knew her. We will see you again soon Mom. We all love you and are going to miss you.
