Catherine L. Bulsiewicz, 86, of 68 Pinedale Road, Asheville, died Sunday, April 18, 2010, at her home. Mrs. Bulsiewicz was a native of Burnsville and was a daughter of the late Leondas and Dennie Vaughn Lawhern. She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. She was a graduate of Bald Creek High School and the Rutherford County Hospital Nursing School. She worked as a registered nurse and operating room supervisor at Moore General Hospital, Swannanoa, and also worked at St. Joseph Hospital. She loved quilting and was a charter member of the Asheville Quilt Guild and she was a member of the Basilica of St. Lawrence. Mrs. Bulsiewicz is survived by her husband of 53 years, Stanley J. Bulsiewicz; one daughter, Debra C. Bulsiewicz of Fletcher; one son, Steven S. Bulsiewicz and his wife, Elaine, of Fairview; and two sisters, Margaret Shuman and Grophia "Pat" Greene. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Fr. C. Morris Boyd at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the Basilica of St. Lawrence, D.M. Interment will follow at Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Four Seasons Hospice, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731, or to the Basilica of St. Lawrence, 97 Haywood Street, Asheville, NC 28801.

  2. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. We have many precious memories of Cathy and will always cherish the hand quilted bedspread that she made for us 25 years ago that we still use. John has many fond memories of family get togethers sharing meals, playing cards and storytelling. She lived a wonderful life and will be missed by many.

  3. We have so many sweet memories of Aunt Cathey. Thanksgivings, weekends at the lake, time together at Grandmother and Grandad’s house….We would love to be able to be there, but know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers.
