C.D. WILLIAMS, SR. ASHEVILLE – Clarence David Williams, Sr., 93, died Monday, January 17, 2011, at his home. Mr. Williams was born in Pennsylvania, and was a son of the late Larimar and Beulah Conrad Williams. He began his career in Asheville with Thomas Buick, the predecessor of Deal Buick, and remained with Deal for 23 years. He was also with Harry's Cadillac and retired from Service Management at Skyland Oldsmobile. Following retirement, he concentrated on his avocation of propagating hybrid rhododendrons. He was an active member of the Men's Garden Club of Asheville, the National Rhododendron Society, and the Blue Ridge Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution. Surviving are his wife, Katherine Gorrell Williams; a son, C. David Williams, Jr. and wife Frances B., two daughters, Katherine W. Creery and husband Presley, and Elizabeth W. Pendergrass and husband Tom K.; four grandchildren, Lisa C. MacKey and spouse, Richard, the Rev. David Bennett Williams and wife Anna W., William P. Creery and Hunter J. Pendergrass, and two great-grandchildren. A graveside service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 14, at Green Hills Cemetery.
