Cecil J. “C.J. Coin, 66, of 470 Enka Lake Road, Candler, died Saturday, June 26, 1999, in the
Hospice Solace Center.

Mr. Coin was born in Gastonia and was a son of the late Cecil and Pauline McCall Coin.  He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Parham and Iolene
Coin.  He served in the Army from 1951 - 1953 and then joined with his father in the operation of a grocery store in Mills River.  In 1954 he went to
work for American Enka, and stayed there until retiring from BASF in 1994. He also raised Tennessee Walking Horses and was a member of the NC Walking Horse Association.  He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, Hominy Lodge #491, A.F. & A.M., the Oasis Shrine, and the Scottish Rite.

Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Warren Coin;  a daughter, Linda J. Coin of Enka;  two sisters, Helena Green and Blair Dean Cathey of Candler; a grandson and his wife, Andy and Bridget Plemmons of Candler, and two special friends, Phil Heatherly and Tom Shipman.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Steve Ackerman and Van
Green officiating.  Pallbearers and Masonic graveside rites will be provided by the Hominy Lodge at Pisgah View Memorial Park.   The lodge will open at 1:00 pm.

His family will receive
friends from 5 - 7 pm Sunday at the funeral home and request that memorials may be made to Mountain
Area Hospice, PO Box 16, Asheville, NC 28802.
