Fairview ~ Chad Edgar Bishop, 25, of Fairview, died Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at St. Joseph’s Campus of Mission Hospitals after an extended illness. A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of William “Bill” and Susie Whitaker Cox of Fairview. Chad was a member of Fairview Sharon United Methodist Church, attended the Irene Wortham Adult Day Program and graduated from the Progressive Education Program in 2003. He loved music and was loved by all that knew him. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ed and Katie Whitaker and his paternal grandparents, Raymond and Pauline Cox. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Cynthia Mendes and her husband, Wilmar, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; a brother, Billy Cox and his wife, Alicia, of Fairview; three nephews, one niece, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Fairview Sharon United Methodist Church with the Revs. Glenda Bramlet and H. D. Houck officiating. Interment will follow at Old Sharon United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road. Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
