Charles McBennett, Sr., 66, of Waynesville, North Carolina went home to the Lord on Wednesday July 24, 2013 at St. Joseph's hospital in Asheville, NC. He was the son of the late Lt. Charles and Roberta Fleming McBennett of Fayetteville, North Carolina. Mr. McBennett retired after forty years of working in the textile industry. He was the Director of Manufacturing for the Miller Group in Pottsville, PA and the Vice-President of Manufacturing for Springford Industries in Forest City, NC. Before retiring he volunteered his time working with Economic Development in North Carolina for the restoration of lost textile jobs in his community He will be most remembered for his love and dedication to God, his children, grandchildren, family, friends and pets, and his great love of life. The family takes comfort in Emily Dickinson's words that "there is another sky, ever serene and fair, and there is another sunshine…here is a brighter garden, where not a frost has been in its unfading flowers." He is survived by his son, Charles McBennett; daughter, Alison and husband William Lucas; grandchildren, Jordan and Brandon Lucas; sister, Mary Ann Weatherman; sister, Bessie and husband Richard Lotsey; and niece, Sierra Lotsey. Funeral services will be held at Unity Presbyterian Church, 885 Woodleaf Barber Road, Cleveland, North Carolina on Monday July 29, 2013 at 3:00 pm. Memorials may be made at Unity Presbyterian Church, PO Box 28, Woodleaf, North Carolina 27054 and donations at the Basilica of St. Lawrence, PO Box 1850, Asheville, North Carolina 28802, and The Rathbun Center, 121 Sherwood Road, Asheville, NC 28803 (a temporary home for members of patients' families and caregivers during their loved ones' hospital stay.)     My sincere condolences in the loss of your dear dad. He certainly loved you both with all his heart. I was his secretary @ PB&D, and he was always a thoughtful and understanding boss. I hope his retirement years were happy ones. My thoughts are with you and your family.

  3. Gary and I were saddened to hear of the passing of CK. We worked with him at PB&D. He will be truly missed. He was a true gentle man, in every aspect of the word.
