Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Chuck was a good classmate at Norwich . Condolences to Carol and the Family. Joe Egolf NU “64”

  2. I remember Charlie as being friendly, personable, and very fun to be around. R.I.P Charlie. You lived a great and fulfilling life, I can tell.

  3. Chuck was a well liked and respected member of our class. We had some great memories together as well lived in the same company at Norwich. Condolences and prayers for his family.
    Bob McAllister, NU ’64

  4. I have very good memories of Mr. Hattaway while growing up in Easton, MA. He was my hockey coach. Doug (son) was my best friend and Brad (other son), and his wife Mrs. Hattaway (Carol). Great family and great memories from the 1970s. Prayers for you all.

  5. So truly sorry to hear of Chuck’s passing. Words alone cannot express how terrible I felt after knowing Chuck for almost 50 years and spending so many memorable times together. I’ll always cherish Chuck’s friendship and will keep him forever in my thoughts and prayers.

  6. Dear Carol, I was a lowly freshman, Sgt. Hattaway was my DI, I was alittle ornery, and Sgt. Hattaway was very tough and stern…but always treated me fairly. He introduced himself by saying “I’m Sgt…. then he would grab his hat and wave it and say …..Sgt….HAT- AWAY…..we never forgot his name ( he was a cool dude). Please accept my heartfelt condolences ! Robert J. Shannon, ’66

  7. I lived close to Chuck and Carol In Beekman Place – Sarasota, Fl.
I was a board member of the Homeowners Association and worked with Chuck on numerous community issues at the time. He was so helpful, quick and clever, hardworking, and funny. I enjoyed my association with him very much and am sorry he is no longer with us. The World will be a poorer place without him.

  8. I remember beginning a new fast pitch softball umpires association with Chuck when we broke away from the existing group because of their lesser skills. He was our secretary/treasurer and managed to keep our group in the “black” from day one with his skill of handling money. On the field, he had a big booming voice and there was never a doubt who was in charge at his game.
Chuck, my friend, you are missed!

  9. Hi Carol, We are so sorry to learn of Chuck’s passing. As your across-the-street neighbors at Beekman Place, we remember many times seeing him hard at work along with you in your yard making everything look so beautiful. We also remember his kind nature and the many fun conversations we’d have talking about the world’s problems and wondering when they might get better. We wish you and your family good health. Our best, Bob & John
